Anyone living in the areas mentioned ever eaten the fruit in habitat?

A number of sites say it's sweet, true?

Know if it's self fertile? Saw something locally which suggests it may be.

I have never tried the fruit but would be curious to do so. The fruit is noted as edible in my standard cactus reference (Anderson).

The photos below came from a plant which is advertised as C. jamacaru which it clearly isn't.

Following the flower photo initially led me to the conclusion it is actually A. tetragonus.

However the photos received recently of the flower buds at the stage they are when compared to buds close to anthesis found on the Web, makes me query my guesstimate.

Would appreciate your comments.
