First 3 pictures are of 1 tree, last two are of a different with their corresponding trees.

Would love to know the names as well as if the seeds are harvestable/growable

They are palm trees (which aren't really trees but grasses). The first 3 photos look like it could be a Sabal Palm. The last two look like a Fishtail Palm. How in the world are they growing in Michigan?

Palms are not grasses. Grasses are in the family Poaceae, while palms are in the family Arecaceae.

Yes, I know that palm trees are not true trees; in fact, I agree with you in this respect. But while they are related to grasses, they are not true grasses. It is like potatoes and tomatoes. You can't call a potato a tomato, and vice versa, just because they are in the same genus, solanum. The term "grass" is reserved for Poaceae only, and the term "palm" is reserved for Arecaceae only.

I completed the University of Florida MG class and this is what we were taught.

I am actually more interested in how these palms are growing in Michigan.

OK, but just know that grasses and palms are both monocots but are now considered different, and they are not the same. Smiling

LOL. I enjoyed reading your responses. I'm vacationing in Florida so yeah I'm not in Michigan right now. I just wanted to know what these trees are and if I could grow them for the fun of it up back at home

Unless you have a greenhouse, you are probably won't be able to grow them. Sorry. Shrug!
