It started out as a seven-by-seven foot planter "box" I created with some 6x6 inch timbers...
But then I got carried away and did a sketch...........
Not all of the plants in the sketch made it into the new bed... but the brick-on-sand patio space did...
Things started to fall into place with the arrival of the wrought-iron bench. It's horribly uncomfortable without a thick pad [which I have and use] but I like the design... it's "airy" and doesn't take up a lot of visual space. I also have good memory connections with this bench... it sat on my family patio all the years of my youth.
Some plants in this bed that don't show up or show up well in the plant combinations photo..............................
The False Garlic [Nothoscordum bivalve] blooms very early...
Groupings of 'Blue Mouse Ears' Hosta make a great groundcover and look particularly good when blooming...
Four foot 'Muscadet' Lilies bloom in this bed...
And the Culver's Root [Veronicastrum virginicum 'Album'] is slowly turning into a nice sized plant...
Last but certainly not least, the 'Biokovo' Geranium...
A moonlit night with the house lights turned off and all those white blooms... brings to mind the comment, "...good as it gets."
