Can someone tell me what this is? Thinking It's grown quite tall around 40cm, in the pot where I plant a pomegranate tree (still a small tree). Thinking to uproot it if it's a weed tree.
Thank You!

Yes it is. Not a good pot plant. Hilarious!

Hold on...
Acer pseudoplatanus,...common name Sycamore has leaves opposite each other on a branch.

1.This plant has alternate leaves so cannot be Sycamore!
2. It has tiny jagged leaves at the base of the leaf, like a ruff ...called stipules. Sycamore do not have these.

American sycamore, Platanus occidentalis, does have stipules and alternate leaves, but the leaves look somewhat different from the ID plant:

sorry for using the common name *Blush* I should know better , It can cause confusion
I did not mean sycamore Maple (Acer)
I meant sycamore (Platanus)

Humble apologies.
I completely forgot that USA Sycamore is very different from UK Sycamore.
Sorry.

Platanus occidentalis does have stipules.

Looking at the pictures in the links from sooby and Calif Sue, the small tree I have here is indeed Platanus occidentalis. Thank you very much for your help everyone. Thumbs up
