I'm in the panhandle. It is a massive state. We only have a few plants so far in the flower bed. Will start the garden next year. Trying to plan everything out now. In the flower bed we have yucca, lamb's ears, honeysuckle, lavender and some other flower my wife threw in that actually came up haha. I'm planning on most of the typical garden veggies and some fruits/berries as well and also adding some fruit trees. The people that owned the house before us planted 6 fruit trees but placed them way way too close (about 4 feet between each tree in 2 rows of 3) so 3 have died by being choked out. Our Jersey cow keeps the others eaten down pretty well. I'll be doing the garden/trees in the front yard.

Amarillo. Just east of there is good farming area. Claude, Goodnight, Clarendon, seems there was or is a Dairy Queen in one of those towns plus silos.

Hi jrmysell, Welcome!

I think you will love it here, we have lots of knowledgeable gardeners who are always willing to offer tips and advice and we all love sharing photos of our plants and gardens!

Since you are in the great big state of Texas, one of our forums that you might find of interest is the Texas Gardening Forum where members in your state and surrounding areas enjoy sharing photos and information about the specific plants for that area. You can access the Texas Forum here: https://garden.org/forums/view...

Haha, yeah there's a Dairy Queen in every small town in Texas. I've driven through all those numerous times. I went to school in Denton so was back and forth on 287 all the time.

Amarillo South on 287 to 35 then straight on to Dallas.
And every small town in Texas has a Dairy Queen but that one in Clarendon, if I remember correctly is right on the road. Easy parking.
I researched that area when we were looking to buy a house. It was the wind that decided us but it seems where we did buy, we missed the signs "Beware of Blowing Dust."
I also drove semi, irregular route team driver, so I have waltzed across Texas, hammer down, many a fine day and night. (Texas is a long ways from here to over there, yes indeed.)

Clarendon and Chillicothe both have it right on 287. I think Estelline is about the only one that doesn't have one. It's the speed trap though so had to be careful going through there.

Been down that road before. When I met my co-driver, my mother asked what he did. I said, "He gets loaded and drives around in circles."
287 is on the big circle from west to east, I40 to 287-380, then 35E to Dallas to points south and east. Unload and reload along the 95 corridor. Then west on I90 with a stop to fish in Montana, load out of Seattle, take a walk in the park in Yakima, drop down to Vegas for a night on the town, slip down to I40, east to Amarillo, slide down 287-380 to Denton hit 35E and coast through Dallas, to points south and east.
Round and Round ...getting loaded and driving around in circles
