I posted in the general new member section, but figured I'd say hi over here as well. I'm in the panhandle (Amarillo). We have 5.75 acres, most is pasture land for the livestock, but planning out an area of 3000 ft^2 garden and a little more than that for an orchard.

Welcome to this website. You'll find a lot of warm and friendly people here, and if you have any plant questions, there is generally someone who can help you out.

Good luck with your ambitious plans: livestock, an orchard and a huge garden will keep you busy for years to come.

Let us know how it goes. Hurray!

Amarillo is 7a? would have thought it was colder than that, lots of winds to take into consideration when you plant, good luck with that garden!
So many roads to take, choices to make, and laughs to share!

Yeah Amarillo is odd in that it gets super cold, has tons of wind but in the summer its crazy hot. And very little rain. So will be a challenge, but I'm excited.

Welcome! to the forums, @jrmysell. You'll find lots of information here, so do explore all site aspects. The plant/garden knowledge of some of our members astounds me. My thumb is not so green as my Dad's was. I didn't inherit that from him. But I stick around to learn from the pros here. Smiling
