How do you water plants when you are away for a week or so? My indoor plumeria planted in a 1.7 gal pot and under a grow light seems to require watering every 3-4 days. I tried a wicking system, which did not work. Then tried a few large aqua globes and left for a week. Came home to a soft, wrinkled and severely wilted plant and lost several leaves. It perked back up the next morning after a good watering. I'm in search of an automated system that will give it a deep watering on a timer.

Hmm my plumerias are outdoors but I can go away for a month without watering. Precisely the reason I grow them.

I don't have experience on grow lights though or indoor plumeria.

Is this a seedling we are talking about? I don't grow indoors, but the only time I have to water daily is when temps are up near the 100° mark. The plants that I have that aren't dormant, I'm still only watering sparingly. I guess there's just not enough context. Size of plant, heat produced by light, heating mat? I can't understand how your soil is drying so quickly indoors.
Look deep into nature, and then you will understand everything better.

The plant is about 8 months old. Is potted in cactus soil. It seems to require a lot of water. I water 2-3 times/week with about 2-3 cups of water each time. The grow light is just a led plant bulb but seems to be working. It's still growing in December in Colorado.

@Jcdoc107, I have no experience growing plumerias in cactus soil or indoors.

I wonder if the Cactus soil, just does not hold moisture enough. That is probably a good thing, so it doesn't stay wet, since normally around this time of year I don't water my outside plumerias.

If this is mine, I would trim the big leaves and just leave a few smaller Leaves. I also will continue not to overwater in this cold weather because that is inviting root rot. Even If it continues to push more leaves.
