I know I won't get an answer soon enough, it being the season and all, but does anyone have suggestions for a tripod light? What to look for in intensity, color, controls? Brands to avoid or ones that really work. I'm looking for something 5' (or taller) that has adjustable wands and is bright enough to actually grow plants with. We have some orchids that do ok but could use a boost and some for our grandson and his girlfriend who live in a dorm with not much light.

I use something like this (mine is a different brand, but I can't remember the name of it). Ideally, you want T5 5000-6500K (kelvins) for light. I think the sun is like 10,000K. They also make 2ft versions (and there are other brands as well).
