In the fall, these are spectacular, tall, yellow leaved trees growing thickly and mostly along rivers and bottomlands.
leaf would suggest something in the birch family maybe?

Maybe Populus tremuloides...common name Quaking Aspen.
Pick up a single leaf .....roll the stalk in you fingers...Is it round or sort of angled?
