Can someone ID this "shrub" please? Zone 8/SE Georgia. Not sure if it was planted or a volunteer. Confused

I think that is a Hypericum sp. - St. John's Wort.

The leaf arrangement should be opposite, and the small narrow leaves fit some members of this large genus. The lightly flaky bark on stems matches. The dried pods/fruit structures look right. The pods follow the bright yellow flowers.
