Thank you everyone for the acorns & thumbs, and especially for the nice comments.
They aren't difficult, and no more expensive than a rose or peony.
They should be divided & re-potted after 2-3yrs, which is something I
will be doing soon before they wake up.
Growing lotus is much easier, imho, than sunflowers & roses.
Just plant the tuber, and
leave it alone.
I learned the hard way in 2018 after losing all 5 lotus I had purchased,
because I kept moving them around.
No gophers, snails, etc. I have found an occasional worm or
katydid (last year) munching on the leaves, but not a big problem.
Just need a round tub, 4" of garden soil, 4-6" of water,
6hr of sunlight. That's it.
I fed them 2x during the growing season with
Winchester Gardens Highland Rim Aquatic Fertilizer
(Amazon)
Lotus take little room....they grow
up, not out like water lilies,
so are perfect for containers.
These are the suppliers I have used & recommend:

BTW, if you speak with the owner, Laura Bancroft,
please tell her, "Cal sent me."

If you've ever considered (or not) trying to grow lotus,
I hope you will give these awesome plants a try this year,
so you can enjoy them first hand.
