The temperature this morning was 1 degree F and the Wind Chill -17F, but we've had enough mild days in December and January to have some Snowdrops here in Zone 5b. A few photos below

Two days ago it was 40F. This is Lady Beatrix Stanley just emerging. With a few more mild days, we'll see double flowers.

A few days before that and Fieldgate Prelude had begun to show flowers.

This was G. Standing Tall on January 4th. I covered it today, but the extreme cold will still damage those flowers.

Beautiful photos. I really like looking at the variety of snow drops. They are starting to bloom here but I have just straight species.

This Iris reticulata has been blooming since January. I don't know the name for it. It doesn't match anything I can remember ordering.

March is so changeable in terms of weather. But it is mid season for snowdrops. Snow one day and 50 degrees F the next. Rinse and repeat. A few photos below.

@steve_mass - where are you finding your beautiful galanthus cultivars? The only vendor that I've found in the US so far is Carolyn's Shade Gardens. I would love to have a few more vendor choices and more cultivar options!

There is a Galanthus Gala. I have never been to it, and I don't think it has been around long. There will be an auction.
https://www.eventbrite.com/e/g...

There was / is Temple Nursery in Trumansburg, NY. Hitch Lyman was the plantsman who brought those UK specialties over here. He sold mail order and had yearly open days. Maybe Covid put an end to it, I can't tell. Nothing online I found is recent. He never had a website or email but there are articles. I don't see anything dated recently that says whether he still sells galathus or is around. You had to send away for the catalog which used to cost $4 (last cost I found online) to Hitch Lyman, Temple Nursery, Post Office Box 591, Trumansburg, N.Y. 14886. He would send it when it came out. The catalog I received had no photos, just descriptions and some drawings.
