Hi SW Friends!

Oh, boy, it's been quite a long time since posting here in our forum. Here we are on the brink of our Spring and wanted to wish you all a happy new year of gardening. We've got a frigid cold front coming in this week and I'm hoping it's our last. I'm chomping at the bit to get out and start the pruning that's needed but with our mid-twenty degree nights expected, I'm biding my time.

Hoping all is well with you all. Looking forward to sharing our 2022 gardening experiences. Here's some desert landscape inspiration photos from the Springs Preserve in Las Vegas.

Happy New Year, Gina! I can't wait for Spring either! Our youngest used to live in Las Vegas. The Springs Preserve was one of our favorite spots to take our grandson. I also loved touring Ethel M's! Yum!

Howdy Karen!

Oh yes, The Springs Preserve and Ethels Chocolates!! Truly, a couple of the best places in LV. I love how Ethel's string lights on their cactus garden during the holidays. Oh, and the Wetlands Park is a mighty fine stroll, too!

I'm glad all is well with you, Karen. Hubs and I worked so hard last year. We finished the pathway and even got our gazebo delivered and assembled. 2022 will be a year of light projects… the heavy lifting is finally done! No more hardscape. A year to watch the plants grow and stop to smell the roses!

In fact, I'm expecting my first grow light this week and setting up my first indoor grow station. I'm sure there will be a learning curve, but I'm excited to give it a try!

Did you ever get to Cactus Joe's? It was one of my favorite places. I bought a lot of the colorful slag glass.

I have 3 sets of light shelves in my home. They do really well. It's just hard to keep up with watering and pruning. The seeds grow like mad with the addition of some heat mats underneath.

Beautiful photos, Gina. Tucson is looking at a possible 28 tomorrow night. 😳

Hi Karen, nope, I've never been to Cactus Joes but with a birthday celebration this weekend in Summerlin, perhaps I can find a few minutes to swing by. It sure sounds like an incredible place to visit. Thank you for the recommendation!

Hi Linda! Yes, I do have a heat mat that I received over Christmas. My grow light was expected yesterday but it seems to be delayed. I'm probably a bit late getting tomatoes started. Although, after this cold spell, I might find my whole garden will need to be planted. Not sure if the cabbage and broccoli will survive these cold nights. I do expect the beets, carrots and onion to hold their own. Nevertheless, there should be plenty of time to get a head start on my spring and summer transplants.

Stay dirty, my friends.
