Hi. I could use some help identifying this tree. I was told it is pretty rare. The bark is slightly flaky and red in color. The needles are thicker and fairly long. There are smaller cones at the top. Disregard the snow on the branches.

Its not a Pine tree. Are there any cones closer to the ground you can photograph for us? How long are the needles? Can you post a closer photo of the bark?
