You probably couldn't tell in the rain, but that camellia, called 'Herme' in the South, but with an older Japanese name, Hikarugenji, is fairly fragrant. It's pretty common to see a branch with pink flowers (sports) on this ancient camellia, and even the variegated flowers show some variation in form and coloring.
