Friend said her bleeding heart vine looks "wilty" in the afternoon, than perks up in the morning. I know she transplanted it after checking for root rot, any thoughts?Thx

Too much sun? I thought they were more of shade plants, but I'm not sure how much shade or sun your friend's is getting. Or, recently transplanted?

I've never grown Bleeding Heart Vine (Clerodendrum thomsoniae) but our database entry information lists it for Full Sun to Partial Shade and Partial Shade to Dappled shade. The soil appears quite dry to me and it looks like it's in a terra cotta type pot which would dry out rather quickly. Due to that fact, I wonder if it might need watering more often?

We have 2 our here and they need light. We strip all the leaves off during the winter months and she get up under the LED lights. When she goes out in the spring it's full sun and we don't start fertilizing until they have been out a couple weeks. Set them out once the temps are 40 at night for a week. Hope this helps.

Just a thought but I am wondering about the roots. That is a large plant and since it was recently repotted the root ball must have been fairly small to fit in what appears to be a small pot. Are there enough roots to support the top growth? If not, why not? Vines tend to have large root systems to support the rampant growth. Too few roots could explain the wilting i.e. you need roots to bring water and nutrients to the top growth. Certain fertilizers like Miracle Gro tend to push top growth, if it were mine I would hold off on the feeding and just provide the appropriate water and light for a while. After the plants shows new growth a bit of a slow release food would be good.

I grow my Bleeding Heart in filtered sun and have to severely prune it annually. Like most Clerodendrons they get huge.
