This winter has been harsh on some of my favorite salvia like the saucy ones. I believe I lost them all due to weather. Also suspect my grandstand ones are gone too. My mystic spires, hot lips, and amethyst lips seemed to take the cold well.

So far my list for this year Of what I ordered is

Skyscraper purple
Skyscraper orange
Skyscraper pink
Bog sage
Bicolor mirage
Two arctic blaze plants

I may rebuy Roman red. What is everyone else getting?

Skyscrapers - I can get all colors very near to me, just 3 miles away, so those are on my buy locally list.

Wendy's Wish Salvia - I finally found a local place to buy from this year, about 35 miles away. I've always ordered them online yearly before because the hummers love them.

Ember's Wish Salvia - I saw it where I'll get the Wendy's Wish from and want to try it this year also.

Bodacious Hummingbird Falls - This I had to order, I think it's a relatively new plant, but I was intrigued enough to buy a couple for hanging baskets.

Summer Jewel Red Salvias - Have seeds that I'll start in a couple of weeks.

Texas Sage Hummingbird Forest Fire - New salvia (new for me that is) I'm trying this year, also from seeds.

And close enough to salvias that I'm also starting from seeds:
Agastache Heather Queen, new for me this year
Arizona Sunset Hummingbird Mint, and trying Sandstone color also this year

I've got about 30 planters in the back that these will go in, I really need to start planning how many of each soon. Anything for the hummingbirds!

I maybe looking for saucy red in the big box stores again. So far I believe I have one saucy wine and saucy peach returning. No signs of growth of the red and there were three in one pot. I just found out home depot was shipping them online so I just purchased one.

Late last year my plan was to order some salvias online this spring, but I've lost interest in doing that. Maybe next year. The only new salvia I know I'll be growing this year is Proven Winners' new one called 'unplugged pink'. I'll try one in a pot. It should be widely available locally. Of course, I'll also have my eye out for other salvias at local garden centers. You never know what you might find.

I'm trying to decide if I should order more or wait to see what's available locally. Since it's snowing today, seems I still have plenty of time to decide on what others I want...

I just purchased hummingbird falls salvia. I have 15 gallon pots so I think it would look interesting if it spreads out of the pot and hangs down.

I can't wait for my Hummingbird Falls to arrive and get planted up. I'm going to put them in 2 hanging baskets that I normally have petunias in, but by mid-August or so, my petunias always seem to fizzle out no matter trimming them back a bit and fertilizing all summer and into fall. I might plant just a smaller foliage vine to cascade more with the Hummingbird Falls, something like Creeping Jenny.

And I want to find a shorter deep pink salvia for a center hanging planter locally if possible for the center hanging basket.

I just ordered a saucy wine salvia. One of the ones I had last year is coming back, but seems like an extremely slow grower. I want to enjoy it now.

I fell for 'Golden Delicious' Salvia elegans at the nursery. The leaf color called out to me.

It would call to me too! I love the S. elegans, but here it starts to bloom right around the time we get our first freeze. In CA it bloomed outside all winter.

This year's selection is doing well, mostly in pots. Sorry about heavy shadows, this morning's bright sun made photography a challenge.
Giant bud on S. sclarea var Turkestanica 'Piedmont' is starting to move upright. I'm super excited about this!

Another, given to me as simply S. sclarea, is beginning to bud

S. atropatana, new to me, not an exciting specimen as I'd hoped. Might make a better bedding plant, like nemerosa.

My reliable darcii is back. Last year two cats got in a raging battle on top of it just as it was starting to bloom and snapped off its brittle stems. It's happier this year

Pungent, resiny S. pachyphylla 'Blue Flame.' These are super sensitive to overwatering, challenging in pots. So far, so good!

Culinary sage outdid itself a couple of weeks ago. Past its peak now
