Hi,
I have this tree, planted by previous owners (at centre of photo on the grass). It produces very few leaves even in the summer. I'm not sure what it is so don't know how to help it.
Any ideas?
Thanks

There are some people here who may be able to identify it as is, but can you get another picture when it has a leaf or two?

Thanks for replying. I have added another photo from the end of last summer. Although the quality isn't great!
This is the maximum number of leaves it had throughout last summer. It seems to have some sort of blossom appearing now (early spring UK).

Take photos as it grows new parts. We will figure it out.

Take some close up pictures NOW of the stems, buds, and other plant parts (blossoms) that are evident.

I'm leaning toward a simple leaf species with alternate arrangement, possibly something pendulous. There are Tilia and Ulmus sp. which could fit that description. With growth becoming evident, I'm leaning toward something like Camperdown Elm (Ulmus glabra 'Camperdownii') - though Camperdown Elm is often twiggier, thus the idea of a Linden selection of some sort.

Without better close up details, we're just spit-balling here.

From 2 pics above I am not even going to make any id suggestions.
we need more clear close ups to show buds, flowers, leaves.
Ulmus.. common name elm and Tilia..common name Lime would not normally be planted in a small garden in the UK.
Cherry or crab apple are more likely candidates.

I would recommend that you remove the grass from round your young tree.
Before the mower or strimmer damage it.
Then mulch it. But not a mulch volcano..see links.

A long shot from a long shot photo, maybe a kind of cobnut (hazel, Corylus avellana), but definitely need more pics.
