The spots don't appear during bloom but will damage the leaves all summer and by fall just brown leaves. I've been told I need to treat my peony roots for fungus spots right now, while I have little red points coming up. Anyone know what to treat with?

I have 2 in the ground, both get morning sun, both beds are not overwatered and reasonably drained. One in a really big pot. All loved our freeze last winter and bloomed for me. I don't know that the one in the pot got the fungus spots but the 2 in the ground did. I did not take pictures of the spotted leaves. It's an every year event.

You can try to find some Fungicide from home depot or any nursery near your home, or Amazon for rose or other shrubs. That should work for peony.

I would also recommend you to keep a clean space for your peony, keep your peony at least 1ft away from other plants and remove the dead leaves from last year, airflow is the best way to prevent disease.

ok, thank you. I wasn't sure, I've been leaving the peony stems up until it came back in the spring.

When y0u have fungal or mildew issues it's best to remove all stems and foliage of herbaceous peonies in the fall rather than leaving it in place. Most people who treat recommend a copper based fungicide. It's recommended to reapply every few weeks through the growing season.

ok. Thank you. I will also see about improving air flow around the plants. I gave my daughter one (I had 5 rescued peonies) and hers doesn't get spots. She doesn't have anything near it, south side of her house but in shade so dryer air

Sounds like Measles (aka Leaf Blotch) and Liz is perfectly right Thumbs up The fungus overwinters in the old leaves & stems left there and Spring moisture starts the spore germination. A good clean-up each Fall should eliminate your problem after a year or so or clean-up and fungicides for a faster remedy.
