Sometimes we get so busy watering our seedlings, we forget to fertilize them on a regular schedule. The plants will let you know when they need to be fed by looking sickly.

Thread OP

Hello! I am searching for some help. This is the first year I have successfully begun tomato seedlings indoors under lights. My seedlings are a month old now and I have been trying to trouble shoot this issue. The leaves have become burgundy underneath and began curling upward. Some of the stems even began twisting. I read and read and read and figured they needed more fertilizer (once a week isn't enough?). So I began fertilizing every couple of days with the half strength all purpose fertilizer. Now the bottom stems of my plants have begun falling off!! The leaf curl seems to be better....they are still curled but the purple has begun to look spotty almost.

These seedlings are housed in a standup green house with grow lights in my home. The temp is usually around 80-85 during the day and 70-75 at night. I have up potted a few to see if there is a difference and I do not see a difference between them.

I have to water my seedlings at least 2-3 times a day because the soil dries out so quickly. I mean the whole peat pot is dry and crispy too. Do you think I need to water more often? Some of the seedlings though have algea growing and some have molded from the same amount of moisture- so I have watered others less often.

Help! Thanks!!
