A friend texted me this, as it appears this date. Here we have forsythia blooming and shrubs just beginning to leaf out. I just can't place this. But I have only viewed it on my phone so far. Maybe a Japanese spirea?

It could be Spiraea but clear close up pics of the leaves would be really helpful to be positive.
By the way...shrines just beginning to leaf out...What is a shrine plant ?

I was going to offer up one of the crazy Kodiak series Diervilla clones, but upon zooming in I see apparently alternate arrangement - and Diervilla sp. are supposed to be simply opposite.

I can believe Spiraea selection suggestion.
