Looking to ID this plant and get some care tips. It is in a south facing window, I am located in SW Ontario so it's been very cold. Sometimes the door does get opened so it has been exposed to cold a bit which I realize is not good. Leaves are dropping and I'm hoping I can bring it back to life!

Yes, definitely a Ming Aralia (Polyscias fruticosa). They are quite tropical, so probably was the COLD. I would cut out any dead leaves or trunk back to healthy tissue, should be obvious by the look and feel. There is still a lot alive in it but the pot looks too big now. I would do some root pruning and put it into a smaller container, as a container too large will hold too much moisture. They used to be more commonly available, now not so commonly encountered. They have a reputation for being finicky but frankly I have great success with mine in a north facing window (but mine does do outside for several months of the year). They have a lot of character, and I think make a great, classic "houseplant". Good luck!
