Now that it's finally spring (for many of us), let's see some pictures of your blooming trees and shrubs.
Here are a few from my yard, though my photo tour was cut short by a thunderstorm. In fact, I'll start with my Donald Wyman crab apple. Do you know how hard it is to try to get him to stay still for the picture with an approaching tornado? Well, didn't happen. Here's the picture anyway! Though the focus is terrible, it shows the beautiful contrast of the red buds opening to white flowers.
Next picture is Daphne genkwa. I used to have an impressively large plant which put on a beautiful display every spring but I lost it a few years ago. Here is the replacement - hard to follow in his predecessor's footsteps. I'll give him a few years and we'll see if he's a capable replacement for the original.
Next is Exochorda racemosa aka Pearlbush.
Cercis canadensis Ace of Hearts. I'll again blame the wind for the focus. Typical redbud flowers but smaller leaves (cute!) on a smaller tree than the species.
Finally, my favorite cherry, Prunus x Hally Jolivette. I've had several plants, all with poor form. But the flowers are outstanding.
Let's see some of your flowering trees and shrubs!

We seem to be struggling with 'spring' as well. We've been flirting with the freezing mark the last few weeks but so far we've avoided a devastating hard frost. Hope spring finally arrives for you for real!

After the blizzard (50 mph wind and snow) we went into the deep freeze - 24 degrees. My JMs took the biggest hit but this poor Bleeding Heart is in the "wind tunnel" (the portico to the courtyard were the JMs live).

Daisy, so sorry to hear about your late frost! I lost many fairly mature JM's about 10 years ago due to a similarly severe late frost. It's frustrating to say the least. We've hovered around the freezing mark off and on the past few weeks, but my sense is that we have escaped this year, though you never know. But I hate to give in to the 'playing it safe' notion by planting only plants safely within our zone. The rare survivor makes it all worthwhile!!

Everything will live although the Star Magnolia won't bloom this year as it lost all its buds. That happens about half the time - I'm not sure why I planted it. Hilarious!

The pretty pink Magnolias do that here too.

Some more shrub/tree pictures from the past couple weeks.
I love the bright pink/red cones of Picea abies Pusch. As attractive as any spring flower.
Tricolor beech (the cultivar variably is F sylvatica Tricolor or Roseomarginata or Purpurea Tricolor) - leafs out late - just now leafing out. The leaves are fantastic on leaf-out.
Deutzia gracilis Variegata brightens up an understory area of my wooded yard.
Viburnum sargentii Onandaga never disappoints.
Azalea Herbert.
And the teeny tiny flowers of Viburnum harryanum. Even my macro-est lens can't catch them clearly. If you want to wow your friends with a flowering shrub, V harryanum is the shrub for you!

Two more - Sinojackia rehderiana and the gold variegate of the dawn redwood, Metasequoia glyptostroboides Ogon. The golden hue is remarkable - really glows!
