I found these pods in Florida but neglected to get any leaves. They are about 3 inches long and are in various stages of ripening.
Can someone tell me what they are?

Something in Meliaceae. If the fruits is large I would suspect Mahagony. Swietenia sp. It will have winged seeds that spinning like helicopter blade falling down.
If it small I will suspect a Toona species, like Toona ciliata or others

Zooming in more, i can see separations in what I assumed was sold pecan sections so ignore my suggestion.

PS: I have friends growing pecans in California. Some of them are nearly 3 inches long. Mahon Papershell pecans I think
