It seems that there are TWO clones of Sempervivum arachnoideum 'Cebenese'?
The original clone has pink flowers, but there seems to be a yellow-flowering form going around?!?
I think it's known as the Siskiyou clone.

Should we add this to the DB as a seperate plant?

A cultivar shouldn't have 2 clones. Unless it is a mutation?

No there are no yellow flowered arachnoideums. This is a hybrid. 'Cebense' should have typical arachnoideum flowers.

That website shows the same photo of a semp colony/cluster for two different semps. Makes me wonder what one is actually buying...

Alex, it is not Cebenese. Also, not a mutation as it has yellow flowers. It looks like a ciliosum?
Alex, no it won't be added to the database. Everything is wrong with their description, and the naming is not correct.

Yes, I've gotten some wrong plants from them too. It's a rather odd colection of semps too. Almost all cobwebs!

Makes me think about trying a ciliosum again. I love the rosette texture and form, and the yellow blooms.

They really are a death wish here in the ground Lynn. I've killed several. With that bad habit of rotting, I wouldn't want to use it in any crosses either. In my second year I made a cross call DEATHWISH from arachnoideum X ciliosum. They did survive that first summer but went to mush over the winter. Spend your $$ elsewhere!

Rolling on the floor laughing 'Deathwish'.
You are giving me very good advice Kevin. I just remember that I grew them beautifully for about 4 or 5 years and loved them. Never tried them in the sandy loam.

Yes, I had a couple ciliosums that were good for a couple years, even growing well enough to bloom but a wet winter seems to be their undoing. Let's face it MOST winters in Oregon are WET. The fall rains got my last surviving ne. No tears; I have plenty of other pretty ones.

Okay, it is out of my head now. NO ciliosum. Sighing!
