This looks like E. obesa, not E. symmetrica. The most obvious difference between the 2 closely related species (other than a distinct geographical origin) is the shape of the so-called flowering eyes, the little indentations from which the cyathia emerge. The flowering eyes on obesa are round while then ones on symmetrica are sideways oval, often more like lines perpendicular to the ribs.

I would like to propose moving this image (and the other one we have for symmetrica) to the entry for obesa. Please let me know if you have any opinions about this.

Thank You!

I just went off the label at the show in Philly. It wouldn't be the first plant labeled incorrectly.

I just went off the label at the show in Philly where it was displayed. It wouldn't be the first plant labeled incorrectly. I would get an opinion from someone more informed on euphorbias than me.

I did search it and it is obvious that you are right. In the future, I will not take the PHS at its word before posting.
