The Master Gardeners Association's Spring Garden Fair will be held in Canby at the fairgrounds this weekend, I'll be there selling handmade ceramic "Geoform" planters potted with hardy succulents and Perrenial Obsessions will also have a booth set up selling named sempervivum cultivars!
The fair is a phenomenal showcase of gardening companies throughout the northwest and is well worth a drive and a $5 admission to see. Other sempervivum selling companies that are usually on location for the event include "Little Prince" and "Sedum Chicks" among others.
Here's a link to the fair…

My booth number is H 25 so come say hi if you drop by!

I was wondering why you hadn't been as active for the last few weeks! Now I know it's because you were working on this! Smiling

Thanks friends!
Yes it takes a lot of energy to put together a good booth, the following weekend I'm doing Ceramic Showcase at the Oregon Convention Center, that'll be an even tougher show to prepare for so as you've guessed I've been in double jeopardy lately. Very excited to do the gardeners show again though, it's been since 2019, also looking forward to seeing Cynda and Dave from PO nursery again, that show is actually where I met them.

It is very pretty out here Sharen, I've driven long hauls across the country as far as Texas and Minnesota, and not to be a modest; there's not much that compares with my backyard. The Columbia river gorge is breathtaking, we have lava flows, deserts, mountains and a coastline all within a couple hours drive of Portland. I will admit to being in love with some of the natural areas around the Arizona/Nevada region that have wild cacti growing everywhere, the Mt. Shasta area of northern California and the great divide in Montana are quite beautiful to, I imagine there are plenty of beautiful unique places I'm unfamiliar with around the states, perhaps it's just my familiarity with Oregon that makes it so special to me. I've never made it as far east as Pennsylvania, I've seen some of the western side of Virginia and that's about as close to you as I've ever been, maybe someday.

The spring garden fair in Canby Or is pretty near and dear to my heart, it's the best garden fair I've had the pleasure of enjoying anyways, and there are lots of Oregon locals here on the forum so I thought it'd be worth an announcement.

Thanks for complimenting my planters, I may have to take some pictures from the show so folks who couldn't make it out can share some of the fun!

I have done a couple shows (paintings) and it is a lot more work than it seems. We finally found a way to make transporting framed art easier, then covid hit. I'll probably end up with a website at some point.

We haven't traveled much out of the North East. Maine, Vermont, new Hampshire. Great hiking, cooler temps, nice camping. We hope to get a camper at some point and head west. Need to get a few things a little more manageable here first as when we go it will probably be for 3 weeks. I have a long list of things I would like to see.

Yes, please post photos, I'd love to see it.

Sharen,

Yup, shows are hard! Loaded my car with booth furniture today and sweated up a storm! I almost chose not to go back to living the "art show life", the internet is an option of unlimited potential and the wholesale work I've done with local businesses has been very lucrative, but I do love the people element of a fair, the excitement that surrounds a large event and the connections you make are all things I've come to miss these last two years. Despite just about every show I've ever worked with making a comeback this year, I have trimmed back a bit, will probably only do three physical art displays this year. Once upon a time I did over 30! but that was back when I didn't have a day job, in the years leading up to the virus age I was doing an average of one show every other month, now I make wholesale drops about as often.

If you wanted to post a link to some of your 2D stuff or upload some images this might not be a bad thread to show your work on Smiling I'll be sure to post updates on the big garden show here in Oregon.

Bea,
It's been good to see all my old friends again, I felt some true vendor comrodery yesterday, lots of familiar faces. I've got someone watching my booth right now but I'll be out there about 12:30 till close today. What a cool event!

Glad you like the planters,

Unfortunately I didn't get a chance to photograph the Fair in action, but this was the aftermath on the lawn before I went home the first day…

Despite the rain and wind tons of folks came out, the second day brought nicer weather but both days were well attended. I got a chance to chat it up with Dave from Perennial Obsessions as well as a ton of other really talented gardeners. It's always been a highlight of the year for me and this last event was no exception!
