Can anyone help with this flower, hummingbird picture taken in Ecuador in April 2022. I realize it would be easier with entire plant. A couple of photos with flower. Thanks in advance.

I have just double checked.
https://www.google.com/search?...

https://neotropicalecuador.com...

I now assume these pics were not taken by you in Texas?
These pics seem to be from Bella vista cloud forest in Costa Rica.
That info would maybe help with the search.
i.e we need a tropical plant.

No point asking you if it was a shrub or herbaceous plant either.

The inquirer said they were from Ecuador in April. Does that change things?

Beautiful but almost impossible to identify without additional photos showing the entire plant, leaves, stem, etc. My first thought was possibly a plant in the Gesneriad family (there are many!), or possibly Cuphea sp., or even Lonicera sp. Shrug!

I have been concentrating on those different /very distinctive calyx.

This pic shows the same flower as you have...note the angled calyx.
RUFOUS-TAILED HUMMINGBIRD

I believe it is Macleania sp...interesting ..it is in Ericaceae

Macleania - Wikipedia
Not positive which species.

This link show the same flattened seed capsules as your images 2/3/4.

Maybe a good starting point to research more.

Those Flickr photos look like the best match for it.

How do you know the Flickr pics are labeled correctly?

Dave's garden has a link that matches.

So that is 3 different people with same shrub.
https://davesgarden.com/guides...

I cannot be positive which species it is, but all Macleania seem to have that calyx.

My flower pic is dreadful..but all I had so I kept it.
Calyx looks good match.
