Not necessarily. You would have to check the base of the rhizome, developing pitchers, and if anthocyanins are produced when the plant is damaged.

This photo of Sarracenia x catesbaei, along with a few others, was taken on April 24, 2004 in the Mediterranean House, adjacent to the Climatron, on the grounds of the Missouri Botanical Garden.
One of the many attributes of MBG I respected very much was their passion for labeling every plant on the grounds... even those in the parking lot.
Whenever I took photos of the plants I always took one of the label first, then the plant.
I'll stand by the label as accurate.

I have visited many botanical gardens, all with wonderful labels, unfortunately, they all make occasional errors in ID's.

The pitcher shape is totally wrong, wayyyy too "upright-type", lack of that wide flap and the biggest weird part for me was when the side flaps curl back -- something that catesbaei should not have, and something oreo's shoul dhave.

Oh and (regular) catesbaei nearly always has venation , whereas regular Oreo can sometimes (not rarely) not produce venation and stay totally green.

This really isn't a big factor but the flower shape and color matches to Oreo as well.

Those are nice photos of the pitchers close up!

Believe me, it was irritating to me to find several of my photos taken at botanical gardens mislabeled. Especially when I had imprinted the name right on the image! And it has happened to me many times so I stopped labeling them. Oh well, chalk it up to human error. That, and trying to keep up with the genus/species name changes can be daunting.
