Hello! I'm trying to figure out which clematis this is. My mother planted it years ago and doesn't remember. I suspect it's H.F. Young, but I'm not certain. As you can see, it's just bloomed as of late April/early May and has the larger-type blooms so I think this must be a group 1 variety. Just wondering if anyone can help me confirm which specific one it is. Thanks in advance!

So many look similar and can have a different look early in the bloom season that it's often hard to make a positive ID but Clematis 'H.F. Young' was my initial thought.
Thank you! I thought so. I've tried to match all the details and color to pictures online and it seems to look closest to HF Young, which is a pretty common variety. I got the group wrong though. It's a group 2, not 1. All my other clematis plants are group 3 and for some reason I always get the other two groups mixed up no matter how hard I try to remember which is which. Oh well. The important thing is I know now how to prune this particular one and hopefully will get to see more pretty blooms in the fall.
