You should post more pictures. Start with the WHOLE plant, and then provide progressively detailed images of all the plant's parts (trunk, bark, branches, buds, leaves, flowers, fruit, etc.).

A very common native tree that is likely found everywhere in Tennessee that this plant resembles is Red Maple (Acer rubrum). However, TN is also well known for having lots of tree nurseries, and they grow many other species from Asia and elsewhere - some of which can have quite similar foliage. The detailed pictures can help sort this out, if you can provide them.
