Here's my latest acquisation. A very thorny Cereus sp. (I think). The thorns are up to 5 cms long. Can you please tell me which sp. ? I know a blooming cactus is easier to identify, but maybe it'll take many years before it blooms.

That looks like a Stetsonia corryne to me. The toothpick cactus. This can turn into a very big (like two stories tall) tree like cactus, though that is unlikely to happen in a pot.

The pointy bits on cacti are not called thorns, but spines - seems like an inconsequential thing, but they are botanically different.

Happy growing!
It is what it is!

@Golgatha this one is not a plant you will enjoy btw. Looking at it and watering is fine, but the really long and really sharp spines will end up a nightmare when moving and potting said plant...
Gloves dont work, and if its too heavy neither will tongs(and very hard even when light)...
Same goes by its relative whose name I remember being neoraimondia herzogiana...

Cardboard and scrap newspaper is a better idea...

Here's Stetsonia coryne in its new and bigger pot. Neither S.c. nor I got damaged during the re-potting. I protected us both with a very thick blanket. S.c. looks quite happy in its new pot.
