Hello. We live at 3400' elevation in Plumas County in the Sierras an have an interesting shrub that bears both cherry red small flowers and white flowers. The leaves are small, bright shiny green, deeply lobed almost oak-like. In late summer it will have clusters or deep red cherry-like fruits. Any ideas as to what this shrub is called? Thanks!
Yes...Crataegus, commonly called hawthorn.
It must be the special one.....eg.CRATAEGUS LAEVIGATA PAULS SCARLET ...which is grafted with red flowers.
White flowers must be from below the graft.
