Thread OP

Hi all,
My monstera grew in an area over the last few years where it wasn't receiving adequate light. I have now moved it next to a window but I have no idea what to do in order to make it look better. I would appreciate some help as to pruning advice in order to make the plant more bushy and not as leggy and floppy!
Thanks,
Jazachu

Not sure on this one.

Pretty plant, love the support pole. It's going to be taking some weight pretty soon though.
Is it staked or supported?

Yours is well trained, the new light conditions should help the leaves get bigger and promote closer new shoots along the main stem. It should be gorgeous soon.

In my experience they don't really bush out if you prune them though. Maybe someone else has a good approach. I've never tried just topping them.

You could always hack it back and root the sections down at soil level.

Would take a while but be much shorter and leafier eventually.

One thing you can try that people have had success with is air layering. Wound the trunk at a node, wrap it in damp moss and saran wrap, and try to get it to make a new shoot with roots.
The only other thing you can do is section up the trunk into cuttings, and replant them all in the same container.

Thank you for going there! I was on my way to bed last night and didn't delve into that.

You could get a lot of good air layerings out of a plant like that, and it's really fun.
