I need to know what kind of Caterpillar this is so I can tell my DB's granddaughters when I see them in a little while.

If I look closely, it appears the colors in the "eyes" in your photo are washed out from overexposure. If so, this, maybe?

What a coincidence! I just posted an image of that exact moth in the Perennial section, now I know what caterpillars to look for! And try to get one actually flying around and not napping...

Thank you so much Zoe for IDing my Caterpillar. I really appreciate it. My DB is going to put it in a screened in cage and feed it and let the granddaughters watch it go through its different stages of life.

I actually gave the caterpillar to my DB who showed his grandchildren and then was going to take it several miles away and let it go. But I haven't talked to him since so I should see what he did with it.
