Hi everyone !
Been growing this plant from a small branch purchased at a online nursery for about 23 years. Under the shade of a old large Japanese Maple tree.
Took a long time to get any vertical growth.
Now it is about 8' long by 2' deep, abd about 30" high.
The old growth is more green, but all the new growth is a beautiful blue color.

Isn't it fun to grow a tree from a seedling it looks happy and healthy.
They are great landscape trees. I have one in my garden and the blue cast is the bloom on the limbs which is a nice color especially during winters.

My Chinese blue fir is also about 20 years old and is 25ft tall or so (I have a two story home and it is considerably taller than the house). I know of a dwarf cultivar called 'Little Leo' - I wonder if your plant is Little Leo to explain why yours is shrub sized and mine is a towering tree.

I am including a link to the data base regarding Little Leo but there haven't been any pictures posted to its entry yet.

Thank you for the info.
I had always thought the kinda shady nursery had sold me a lateral growing branch instead of one with upward growth with a leader.
