If the species I am familiar with, we used to have some volunteer every year. I think they were pale pink like this. And fun to pop!
Plant it and they will come.

That's what I was told, the seed pods get plump and you can walk around and flick them to disperse seeds. High potential for becoming invasive, so I'd probably do a more controlled seed collection.

Beautiful plant. Any care recommendations? This one was greenhouse grown from seed.

Thanks!

Yours may be an improved one, the ones I remember had most flowers more tucked between leaves rather than nicely clustered at the top. We gave no special care. Sun, shade? More sun probably.
Anyhoo, the juicy pods swell and turn yellowish then you know they are almost done. They will pop with a slight squeeze if you get them just right, or pop on their own if you are late. I don't know that you would carry the pods and pop where you want to plant, as when they are ripe they will pop as you pick them.
I would not call them aggressive, they would show up on their own but they are soft and weak, easy to pull. YMMV.
thanks for reminding me of a sentimental plant Smiling
Plant it and they will come.

That is so pretty! I wonder if it might be this one?
Himalayan Balsam (Impatiens glandulifera)

The blooms don't look like a match for I. balsamina, or the usual walleriana or hawkeri one might see @ a store.

Just note
"Himalayan Balsam is on Alberta's list of noxious weeds."
though I have never heard of it here.
Plant it and they will come.

I was so confused when I read Touch Me Not and saw the Impatients. I was expecting tiny leaves haha but yeah Impatients are very cute!
