This is going to be a pictorial with details dealing with how I repot macro bulbed Bulbophyllums. My victim is a division of Bulb. Tree Frog which is Bulb. bicolor x Bulb. macrobulbon.
I acquired the plant in shredded tree fern. It was a large 16 bulb plant with 8 new growths, 2 on this division.
I got a 5" plastic pot and added a layer of broken crock to the bottom. Then added 3/4" of media.
Then I carefully back filled pot with sphagnum moss. I put it in snuggly, not really cramming it in there. Remember, water has to flow through it.
From here it goes under a 2 tube light fixture, the leaves are about 5-6" below the bulbs.
I use this method for such plants as Bulbophyllum claptonense, lobbii, sumatranum, rothschildianum, Manchind, cruentum, Elizabeth Ann, etc.
This time of year these plants generally need water every 7-10 days, more often in winter. Lately humidity has been running 80-93%.
