This is the first time I've planted this in ground. I was worried.

Looking good, Evan. As long as the ground was good and warm it will do fine. Oh, and of course your weather is warm now too, right? Lay your hose in the sun, and water that baby with the warm water, too. It will help keep the ground warmer around the plant.

Those things really are divas - they jump up when the weather heats up here. Mine's still in a pot, and I think it's got to go in ground this year. It started up growing in early April this year because the weather warmed up a month early. This means that it's flopping and getting tired already now. Reminds me of the diva reclining on her divan (is that an appropriate name or what!) with her hands trailing off towards the ground.

Mine's grown a lot this year too, finally ...no blooms yet tho. I know they like a lot of water, but we've been getting ALOT of rain lately.

You sure have! Be thankful, no fires at least this year. We've had about half as much rain as folks up in Tampa, and what they get, you get as well, right?

Glad to hear that baby wormkiller is finally growing up. I've seen no more babies from mine this year, although I did have two flowers again. We shall see.

This thing gives me fits. I have too much experience carving out tuber rot. It hates cool wet but at least it's survived!

Hm, yeah it must be the 'cool' part that causes the rot, because mine is wet all the time in summer, and so is Mj's - even more so this summer! I've only dug mine up once, to remove the two baby tubers, and the mama tuber was 4in. across then, and solid.

Keep that puppy warmer this winter and see what happens, Evan? Mine's in old, tired potting soil with a mulch of oak leaves on top and the pot is half sunk in the soil. Never gets much below 60-ish, I wouldn't think, and stays on the dry side i.e no water unless it rains on it.

In winter mine has gone completely dormant. Even if in the greenhouse. So I just set the pot up where it won't get watered. Maybe an occasional mist when I'm watering other plants and that just keeps the soil from going bone dry. After it popped thru the soil this spring I have kept it pretty moist. I did move it back where it got a little more shade from noon on, but it's still very bright light.

Yup, mine disappears as soon as the nights cool off too. Never shows its face until the daytime temps start to hit 85 or so.

Yay, Hurray! You've done great with it. Yours looks a lot better than mine, I've got leaves but no flowers yet, just the start of a bud. I think the heavy rain last Wednesday gave it a big boost, though.

I suspect it doesn't like my well water too much. I'll give it some TLC and maybe even a new pot this fall, and next year it will look like yours.

Elaine mine get's well water. None filtered as it's the same water that goes to the barn, not the house.
I am so stoked. As soon as it had two leaves up and open I fertilized it with 15-30-15. I was doing all the Hoya's so I gave it a shot too.

Mine usually makes two flowers, and the first year they pollinated each other, that's how I got the babies to give you, and Evan. Keep an eye on it, I suspect there's a narrow window for pollination to happen.

I've seen everything along that side of the house that gets irrigated with the well water sort of limps along until it starts to rain more in the summer. Have you tested the pH of your well water? (you can do it with a pool test kit, or an aquarium kit) Mine's as high as 8.2 which is really alkaline! Yours might be lower, since you're "upstream" of me by 100 miles or so - the water hasn't flowed through the aquifer for quite as long or as far? (just speculating here)

Hey, do you feed your horses alfalfa pellets? I'm finding it's the absolute best soil amendment - but then, I guess you have ample horse manure to amend with anyway. But the pellets are great for potted plants, where you might not want to use manure.

I've never had the Ph tested for the water but our soil generally tests a bit on the acid side. Which is good for pasture grass. We do feed one of the horses alfalfa cubes. I have in the past soaked them for a week or so then spread into the soil. Horse manure takes a while to compost down and you have to mix with lots of green, but we do keep a small pile going for the flower beds. I've got one of those solar lawn lights that you just stick in the ground in the pot with the wormkiller. I've used it before to get the moths to pollinate the Hoya's.

I'm surprised with your wormkiller photo's. The one I know (I, unfortunately, have none myself) is quit a different colour. See pics. taken at the Botanical Garden at Meise. Is it the same species? I think it looks like it, just a different colour form. What do you think?

Me too, it's just beautiful, Ruud. Thanks for posting that picture. Is it indoors in a conservatory there? Looks like it's getting very bright light.

Yes it is growing indoors, they keep it in a pot in the tropical greenhouse, so it gets lots of light and summer heat. Outside it would stand no chance at all. Far too cold in winter,
