Something has attacked the old "trash tree" in the back of the property. It has lost a lot of its leafs, and the ones still on the tree are covered in this sort of silk-like stuff. I am not sure what this is. Could it be bagworm, or is it something else? I am worried if the tree is not treated, it will die. It is not a beloved tree by any means, but it provides shade to the back drive, so for that reason, I hope it will not die. The third photo shows one of the leafs that landed on the fence.

Looks like tent caterpillars.
Looks like they're done.
I've never seen them kill anything.

Oh, thank you! That is a relief! Yes, they made a colossal mess to be sure! Is there anything I can do to make sure they do not come back again?
