I have tried at least a couple from various nurseries. They peter out in summer. One of the related Dactylicapnos vines, OTOH, was fine in summer, grew well, bloomed and everything (!), but couldn't survive the winter! Sometimes you just can't win, can you?
By "hot summer" I mean, south of upstate NY, New England, and the upper fringes of the Midwest. And of course notwithstanding mountain climates with cool nights.

I have avoided the bright blue Corydalis flexuosa cultivars (Blue Panda, China Blue, etc) for the same reason - intolerance to summer heat/humidity. I have read that Corydalis elata is less fussy about heat/humidity, but I haven't tried it yet. It is also a bright blue. I have seen it available online. Also there is a hybrid between the C. flexuosa and C. elata called Porcelain Blue which is supposed to do a lot better in the south. Again, I haven't tried it personally yet. I see it available online from a number of nurseries. You might check either of them out.

Scott has a nice collection of Corydalis. I am like you, David. They melt once the July heat comes on so I have given up on them and just enjoy Scott's photos. The only one that I could grow is yellow corydalis which isn't even a corydalis anymore. So, I guess I can't grow any!

I will let you know. I have planted 3 corydalis obtained from Annie's Annuals and Perennials about a month ago.they are still alive, so far.

Here is a picture of a blue corydalis which is just now blooming - Corydalis calycosa. To be blooming in late June is strange enough. But it's a bright blue - I've never had a blue corydalis bloom in my climate. This is just it's 2nd year - didn't bloom last year. Time will tell if it will turn out to be a consistent performer or not. But for now, I'll enjoy the nice blue (and the extention of the Corydalis season).

Scott ~ Thank you for sharing your beautiful picture. Mine is blooming, but the picture didn't show up very well. I will have to try again. It was blooming when I received it several months ago, and then kept on putting out sporadic blooms. I got them from Annie's Annuals and Perennials. The summer is predicted to turn hot by Friday (90°)!
Luckily it has been cool up until now.
They are a light blue. Crossing Fingers!
