Had some nice ones next door at Safeway. Mentioned them to one of my employees, how tempted I was, and last night he said he was heading over to check them out.
Well, he bought the nicest one... and left it on my desk for me. Very pleasant surprise this morning!

How cool is that? So nice of him.
Almost perfectly symmetrical.

That is a pleasant surprise! And an especially pretty leaf.
What gets me mesmerized is the grayish section that can appear between the yellow and the dark green. That seems to be what is so unusual about this plants' variegation.

I'm not sure symmetry is a thing for this cultivar. From what I've seen, the fact that there is variegation is stable compared to a lot of variegation, but I don't think I've seen 2 identical leaves in the years I've had that one. The yellow part can be a thin stripe, or most of the leaf, in the middle, or off to one side. I did get a solid lemon/lime color stem a few years back, but it didn't survive on its own after I cut it off. That was the only abnormality I've seen on my own plants, for asmuchas the variegation of this cultivar can be called normal.

Don't tell me you haven't already thought about prop'ing it.

I have 2 hanging baskets of 'Brasil' that were hung in the yucca tree in the backyard a few years ago. The plastic "hooks/hangers are now enclosed in the tree bark and the vines have attached to the bark. I need to go do a walk about and look but I don't think either of them have any variegation anymore ... both reverted to the solid green P. hederaceum var. oxycardium. Sad

That sounds like a wild tangle! Please take some pics for us if you get a chance.

My point was to say that as a houseplant, I don't think anyone would have trouble removing any solid sports at the rate of growth that occurs on a potted plant that's not permanently hung in a tree in an almost tropical location. Yours is the only tale of complete reversion I can remember reading about for this plant, but my memory is not absolute at all.

Not like some plants that aren't worth getting because they revert so adamantly that it can't be stopped. Like Tradescantia fluminensis. Don't remember reading anyone saying they kept that going for many years w/o losing the variegation.

I dunno, that leaf looks pretty damn symmetrical to me:)

A lot of the leaves are similar but not all.

And yes, I'm thinking about cuttings once it settles in. Of course...

Of course. LOL! I wasn't saying I was surprised you found a symmetrical leaf, and I agree that it does look symmetrical, just that the variegation can occur otherwise and symmetry isn't required for it to be a 'Brasil.' I feel like I'm having trouble saying things well today.

No worries.
For this plant at least, the majority of the leaves follow the symmetry. Not all of them, and I'm curious to see what new leaves will look like.
