Nothing Earth shattering but I just thrifted these a few days ago. They're about 1 foot on each side. You can't really tell but the edges are the highest point and towards the middle there are places about 1.5-2 inches deep. I figure on using them for more bird baths come spring.

Those are so cool. Show us again when you turn them into bird baths.

Urbanwild, do you have an opinion about whether birds dislike slippery ceramic surface in birdbaths, as I have read?
Or water depth?
I feel my birdbaths aren't as used as they should be.

Trust me , they do not mind ceramic dishes.

as far as depth I had bowls , dishes , pans and a waterfall fountain. all stayed busy and I have only fished a dead sparrow out of the waterfall reservoir twice in the many years I've had it. I think they were younger birds that just didn't know any better. I thought putting a stick in there to use as an escape ladder. But it really doesn't happen enough to warrant it.

I have several with deeper bowls and they're usually used by large birds and mammals. Shallow dishes seem preferred by small birds here. So, I put out several and in different sizes scattered about.
