This is growing near our house and I'd love to know what it is!

Welcome to the site!

Maybe this: Blackthorn (Prunus spinosa) or this Lonicera villosa
Mountain fly honeysuckle
As Yogi Berra said, “It's tough to make predictions, especially about the future.”

These pics show prunus spinosa...common name Sloe.
They have thorns/spines.
Fruit is like a tiny plum with a single stone.
Don't think it matches your pics.

I kinda thought there was a resemblance to blueberries too...

Like maybe Vaccinium arboreum or Vaccinium stamineum

The problem is the late timing:
In spring, bell-shaped, white flowers give way to abundant clusters of large, sweet, juicy blueberries which ripen early in the season (late spring to early summer).

Serviceberry is another possibility, but they also ripen early...

We really need a pic of entire plant, a small section of a branch is difficult to identify.

Sorry it took me so long to get back here, we've had nonstop doctors visits for the past while and I haven't had time. I hope it being autumn isn't a problem, but here's the full bush. We have three of them grouped together.
