I hope everyone had a suitably spooky Halloween. Since today's our anniversary, my husband got me a succulent in a ceramic 'sugar skull', which might sound weird, but today is also Día de los Muertos.

Anyhoo, this is a link to the TJ's ad, and below is a photo of the plant he got. He chose the one he thought was the least dangerous-looking. Hilarious!

I just want to know what it is, and how not to kill it. Sorry about the photo aesthetics. I take bad indoor photos.

Thanks for any help you can provide.

It looks like some kind of Aloe to me.

Aloe. Maximum amount of natural light indoors (right in front of your sunniest southerly facing window), water when the soil is dry (probably less often in late fall and winter), a bigger pot in a couple of months (maybe double the width of the current one). Likely the plant will grow to at least 3 gallon pot size eventually (years).

They have some clever copy writers! Hilarious!

I was wondering it it might be an aloe, but I know very little about succulents. Nice to find out my instinct was not way off-course. Smiling

Thanks for confirming the ID & providing useful care info. I tip my hat to you.

I have an impressive track record of killing indoor plants, but I have managed to not kill (& even to propagate) a cactus that predates my time in this house, so I'm cautiously optimistic. Crossing Fingers!

Our sunniest window is where it is, though it's sunnier in spring/summer. Hopefully, it expects less sun in the winter. It's in the tiniest pot I've seen, so I'll try to find the second-tiniest pot I've seen in the next few months. Hilarious!

Best luck with it! And Happy Anniversary! Meant to say but forgot to include that yesterday.
