Thanks but it's definitely different to Dieffenbachias - it has very even stripes whereas this seems to be patchy light green sections.

Anything can be a weed. Several of my former houseplants in OH are horrible weeds in AL. If you have a monoculture of plant X and any other plants show up, they would be "weeded out."
