There could be a slug in the pot. The pot was on the ground outside all summer. I have some of this in another pot and it looks fine. Have you seen something else cause this? The other plants sharing this pot look fine.

I'd think the giveaway for slugs or snails would be visible slime trails. I see dead shriveled leaves —some almost look mildewed—but no evidence of chewing.
