I thought when they were forming new roots they wanted moisture. Am I doing it backwards? Shrug!

Patty in my experience, if they have even tiny roots then sure water is fine, but if they have no roots yet, I would with hold water - totally opposite of other plants like coleus or mint or whatever - where they want water to root - these plants will rot if they have water before they have roots! Thumbs up

That makes sense. Right now most of mine are closed up and sort of "reaching" ...not as in ready to bloom, although plenty of mine are bolting...but I'm not sure if they need more water, or if I already gave too much. (I watered about twice a week, then stopped these past 2 weeks). I read about this before but can't find it on the forum now.

gg5 said:I agree with Lynn - Linda for that one I would just separate the rosette's by gently cutting apart each one from the base. I think especially at this time of year they should root pretty quickly. If you are getting lots of rain, I'd put them in some shelter while they grow the roots, they don't want or need moisture for a couple of weeks while this is happening. Once you see roots you can water normally. They still require lots of strong light - but not in direct sunshine! Hope that helps! I tip my hat to you.

valleylynn gg5 Group hug Thank You! for advice. It has always been pretty. I was afraid she might bloom before chicks came. The one in front looks like it's starting to protrude /maybe a bloom stalk.

I took a few photos today of some of the crested semps out in the beds. I am thinking of transplanting each one into a new area (Crested Forms Nursery).

Now I am curious on how many other unusual forms are out in the raised beds?

I agree Astrid is so unusual with the extra heavy cresting in the middle. I haven't noticed too many unusual things yet this year in my gardens. I'll have to look harder!
