Good morning,

In the past several years we have started plugs of hellebores in the Wedding Party series and Winter Gem series. Looking forward to flowers on the oldest plants this winter/spring (fingers crossed).

We have several hybrid single bloomers that are 15+ years old and dark purple/dark pink. (Only 1 thriving seedling plant in that 15 years.) They bloom around late February/early March.

I am looking for Hellebores that might bloom from November/December through our 'winter'.
What are some of the earliest blooming recommended cultivars?
I have read that i am looking for Helleborus niger, but haven't gotten much beyond that.

Thank you for your recommendations.
Thank You!

Would have thought your Lenten Roses would have opened earlier , mine bloom in March and I am pretty close to zone 5. My Christmas roses beat them by a couple of weeks. By what I have read in your area Christmas Rose should start late Dec. into Jan. and Lenten beginning of Feb.

Good morning Bob

I could be off by a few weeks. That was from memory. (My memory is not always perfect these days)
January, February and early March is our zone 7b,8a winter. Last frost is around March 15. House plants come out about late April, definitely by May 1st.

Are there any Christmas Rose varieties that you recommend?
Thanks!

Prelude is budded already here. It is too cold in my zone for them to open yet.

Lots of my hellebores are all budded up. Most are NOID volunteers. The light yellow one is Golden Lotus - a yellow double. Blooms quite early.
I often get sporadic blooms in January, but March is really the main season.
Other than the H. foetidus, which has been blooming for weeks already, such as they are.
