Hey, I received a dendrobium orchid as a gift over the holidays but the leaves have recently began to yellow and spots have appeared on them. I have watered it once and sprayed it with orchid plant food (which may have been the problem).I was wondering if anyone would help me fix the problem and potentially provide instructions on how to care for it? I also just imported it and it appears that they had potted it in potting soil.

Imported from where? I don't grow Dendrobiums but I would be worrying about viruses. The roots don't look healthy either. Sorry!

A couple of comments here..and I'm not a Dendrobium grower so take them with a grain of salt.
Was your plant exposed to temperatures below 55? These need to be kept warm.
Dendrobium generally like to be pot bound … repotting while it's blooming is sort of stressful ( even if it was in the wrong mix to begin with). I would cut the flower spikes and enjoy them in a vase. This will allow the plant to focus on new roots.
Hold off on fertilizing until you see new roots.. it's kind of like asking you to eat a big meal after surgery.
If the leaves were green when you got it, odds are it's reacting to a change in its situation.
Fingers crossed that it settles down soon for you.

I agree with everything Lindsay said, but may I also add that Dendrobiums don't like to dry out as much as some other types of orchids, either. They have much finer roots than Phalaenopsis or Cattleya, and mine thrive on being misted every day when the weather is warm.

If you left it outside this past weekend, when it was SO cold, that alone might explain the yellow leaves. But don't panic, it will very likely recover if you keep it indoors when it's cold, and give it extra water when it's outside. These like a fair amount of sunlight in my care - my orchids are all inside my pool cage, though so the screening provides a tiny bit of 'shade' relief from the direct sun.

Thank you all for your suggestions hopefully it will get better with time but no more leaves have yellowed so far and I'm keeping it indoors and making sure it receives enough water.
